Difficulty

- ​The LEED exams are reputed to be some of the most difficult exams created. They are memorization-based, so it is important to complete the reading assignments according to the timeline, attend the live classes to review and apply the material, and take your test within one week after the class is finished (while the material is fresh).
What to expect from the LEED Green Associate Preparatory Class and the Exam?
Time Commitment

- An introductory session will be help to explain the class, the test, and the process. Home study then begins prior to the first "actual" class (weekly courses). If the accelerated class is taken, home study will begin four weeks prior to the class.
- Home study takes 4-8 hours per week. Attending class alone is not sufficient to pass the exam.
- Weekly Course: Class will take 2.5 hours per week, 6 classes will be held over 5 or 6 weeks (2 classes during the last week).
- Accelerated Course: 2 days of class

- The exam is overseen by the Green Building Certification Institute (www.gbci.org) to provide credentials to individuals who understand LEED concepts from the U.S. Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org). The tests are administered via Prometric (as discussed in the Candidate Handbook)
- Create an account for yourself as a user at www.usgbc,org
- To receive your membership discount, you will need your company's USGBC Corporate Access I.D. Enter this number in the appropriate space while creating your account.

- You must apply for the exam through the GBCI. The GBCI may take up to 10 business days to approve your exam application.
- When your application is approved, follow the instructions in the Candidate Handbook to sign up for your exam (on the "My Credentials" page of www.gbci.org).
- Again, testing centers may be scheduling several weeks out, therefore, the entire process to get a test date may take 4-6 weeks!
